Default Mounting Weather Station Sensors?

Nick Webster wrote:

I want to mount them in a fairly central position in the garden, but I'm
not sure where to buy a suitable pole, or indeed how to fix the pole in
the ground so it doesn't move.

Can anyone give me any pointers on where to buy a pole, or indeed any
better ways of mounting the sensors and solar panels?

I've seen such a pole advertised somewhere, but at the moment I can't
remember where - I'll have a search to try to find it. I think it may
have been a US web site though. It comes with a radiation shield for the
temperature sensor - don't forget you'll need one of those if you're
mounting it out in the open. Also, the wind gauge needs to be as clear
as possible from surrounding obstructions.

I have my sensors mounted thus:

Rain gauge: On top of a sturdy fence post.
Temperature sensor: On the North side of a fence post. I am
investigating building a small stevenson-type screen to put it in to
give it more protection from the weather.
Wind gauge: I've bolted a long piece of Dexion (as I happened to have
some lying around and it struck me as being suitable) to the side of the
garage - my garage is at a higher level than the house, and it's a
bungalow, so the garage seemed a good place - so that it sticks up a
metre or so above the garage roof. The U-bolts clamp to this quite nicely.

Oh, and if you haven't decided what software to use, you might want to
try mine out, see below!
