Default Blizzards in the north tomorrow?!

With probably the most severe weather of the winter forecast for the
northern half of the country tomorrow evening/night, I'm almost shocked at
how benign the newsgroup has been in the run up to this event.
Have we become snow weary? Or do most believe it will pass without the
severity that is forecast?
The deepest snowfall of the winter here has only been 2cm, I'm hoping
tomorrow will re-dress the balance. With a WNW flow it's a bit of a hit or
miss affair for the Central lowlands. I recall a similar event back on 28th
December 2001 - which turned out to be a miss here. This system looks less
promising - but nature has thrown a few extremes at us recently.

What's the wind-chill with an air temp of -2°C and a 40KT mean wind? Rather
cold I imagine :-!

According to the windchill-tables ms 23 C, Alex :-).

Lots of wind expected over Holland next Sunday. Some speak of snow -- but I
guess it'll be rain, maybe sleet now and then; but that'll be all.

After last month's events I'm "anti-snow" due to family in hospital
(slipping over) and the hell on the A414 the morning!

Won't catch me excited about snow anymore

Alex, I'm afraid you're probably suffering the attitude that it's not
happening in the South so it doesn't count! Sorry! Also I think it looks so
shortlived atm that it's difficult to get that enthusiastic.

Thats what I think as well. The Western Isles look to get a bashing
and storm force winds are not that unusual in that part of the world.
Where as two flakes of snow closes schools and motorways down south...
B-)

Come on! I am suggesting a southern bias in the media but we get our fair
share of "soft southerners " stuff on here. We did get 5 inches of snow in
these parts last year not one or two flakes!

I was waiting for someone else to mention it I thought I must have
imagined or misinterpreted the Met Office severe weather warning!

Same here, thought I must have misread the charts. Cancelled my travel plans
for tomorrow anyway just to be on the safe side......just have to wait and
see...does look like the northern/western Isles will get a pretty severe
blast even by their standards.

Only thing I can think is, I guess no one has any faith in the
forecasts\charts, plus will be such a short lived event as to be worth it...
melting, slushy snow... yukk ;(
And surely, this is nothing compared to what Scotland should be getting?
Sign of the times I guess. I cannot believe the lack of snow in Scotland in
recent years... worrying to say the least.
