Just remember boys and girls long sustained cold spells never last long
without a controlling High ,
so Low pressure systems might get one going but unless a Northern or Eastern
High takes over it all ends in tears ( or cheers ,depending on your
likes).Even Will thinks it might be all over by next weekend.......

Not sure about that, Ron. What about December 1981? There was no
controlling high anywhere near. (I have checked this).
January 1979 was another example, maybe less well-marked.

Dec.81's charts seem a real one off, nothing like whats forecast for this
week though
