Default Warnings...not on BBC News

I am surprised, bearing in mind the Met Office Web site warning below:

"For the storm on Monday there is also a lower risk, ranging from 20% in SW
England, to 40% in SE England, and 10% or less over Northern and Central
parts of the UK, that extremely damaging inland gusts of order 90mph will
develop as this storm system passes through. This is exceptional, and would
cause widespread disruption to transport and significant danger to life."

"40% of significant danger to life..."

That aboslutely nothing was on the early evening news on BBC1. Sure it was
on the weather bulletin, but most people would have left by then.

Its amazing, that a hurricane in the Atlantic gets BBC crews out to the USA
days before, but nothing when its on our own doorstep within hours..

I know exactly what you mean. Of course, if David Beckham had so much
as broken a fingernail it would have made the headlines .........

If there IS a storm along with severe damage/loss of life then the
media vultures will be all over it, mis-reporting it too (as usual)
and no doubt blaming the met office for a lack of warnings!

sigh

snip Heavy discussions in the Dutch weathergroup also; what the low will
do. Some say it'll move over the North of the Netherlands, meaning we're
really on -- others show a more southerly path; and the heaviest of winds
will pass over Belgium. Well, time will learn!

I hope not!

Even more alarming was Channel 4 news this evening. The usual symbols chart for
tonight, then back to the newsreader, end of forecast! I hope they don't ask
forecasters tmrw night 'why were we not warned?' .

Even in this on their website tonight they only mention 90mph winds for
Europe........obviously half asleep when they read the MET office warning!
