Default Penzance - The current notable dry spell in perspective

My records start 1991.

Driest Months
May '91 - 3.0mm
September ' - 14 6.8mm
April '17 - 7.8mm

April '21 so far 3.6mm

Dries February - April periods.
2011 152.5mm
1973 176.3mm
2003 195.0mm

2021 so far 137.2mm

The reservoirs are fine largely due to the complete absence of tourists. Water consumption in Cornwall has been dramatically down. THe population of Cornwall typically doubles over a normal Easter.

Going (OT)
Strangely, there are still very, very few visitors around. Almost had Perranuthnoe beach to myself today, despite it being a lovely day (Had lunch here - https://thecabinbeachcafe.co.uk/ . Even Sennen's been very quiet.

This from the Boathouse Stores - Cove Diary.
"Well, all I can say is, how very disappointing. We have had a huge amount of hyperbole suggesting that we would be mowed down in the rush as locked up and locked down citizens of everywhere rushed to the Duchy for a holiday. . . . So, the tumbleweed from yesterday had barely toppled off the sea wall when the empty streets of another day ushered in the next lot. There was some wandering about and buying in the morning but the afternoon sunk like a stone. If it does not pick up tomorrow I shall fetch the workbench down from The Farm and start building the last two beehives."

Typical Spotlight SW piece yesterday trying to support a story they'd clearly already written about all the people visiting Cornwall, accompanied by shots of a reporting ambling around deserted holiday attractions.

Weird, because last September /October it was packed.
