Looking on the internet I noticed more garbage from the comedians known
as the Daily Express. 'Beast from the east to return soon' was the headline yesterday and today 'Icelandic snow storm to hit by March 2nd' No doubt they have one lined up for tomorrow. Very amusing since the Met office long range outlook is staying mild or very mild. Who supplies the clowns with this garbage? Graham |

Graham Some chap (I hesisitate to call him a journalist) is briefed to come up regularly with a sensational headline on the weather. It does not need to be based on any science truth, that would be boring and not sell newspapers. The fact that the forecast is put in fairly vague terms as regards location and timing does not matter to the reader. It catches readers' eyes but does not seem to worry them that the forecast rarely is correct. On some levels it is just entertainment. The normal Daily Express reader is not going to stop buying the paper just because of these ridiculous forecasts. Len |
