A cold and wet month with a great deal of snow. Coldest January in the
short record here (2014). With a mean temperature of 1.7C this month was in complete contrast to January 2020 which had a mean temperature of 5.9C. The second wettest January here (134.6 mm) after 2016 (164.3 mm) 21st 20 cm snow at 0900 GMT 22nd-25th 19.1 hours of sunshine and thick snow cover Mean max 3.5C, mean min 0.0C, overall mean 1.7C (-2.0degC) Precipitation 134.6 mm (164.3%) Sunshine 64.52 hrs (129.0%) Air frost 18 days, ground frost 21 days, snow cover (0900) 22 days, snow fall 22 days, max depth 20 cm.
