Yesterday snow showers eased around 9.40 then apart from a few snow
showers it was dry but cloudy. Today despite the met office grphics showing heavy snow from 08.00 to 12.00 for Weston Coyney it's been dry but cloudy. Few light snow flurries in last 10 minutes. Looking a little brighter now. 1.5cms lying 09.00 (Sat) to 09.00 (Sun) Max 0.8c Min -3.2c Rainfall 2.3mm Sun hours 0.2 Graham |

Judging by the radar, you may have spoken (written) slightly too soon, Graham. Correct forecast, though not sure why people look at the MO site-specific graphics.

Radar or no radar we had some mostly light snow from midday but that died away around 12.45. Dry now and looking a bit brighter again. Graham |

Julian The radar was very misleading for these parts on Sunday. We had dark blue and green echoes over Tideswell at times but, as far as I am aware, there wasn't a flake of snow. For much of the day, lots of precipitation was visible falling from the middle cloud but it all evaporated before reaching the ground. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. https://peakdistrictweather.org Twitter: @TideswellWeathr |

As I pointed out to Julian the radar was showing snow from 09.00 to midday here and we'd had a few flakes. But when we returned from our afternoon walk it was still snowing heavily and the radar looked the same as it did earlier in the day! Reports on Midlands Today said Staffordshire had the worst of the snow in the Midlands with 15 cms but it must have been just to the South and east of Weston Coyney. We only had the heavy snow for a few hours during the afternoon. The Midlands forecaster says its turning milder this week with more rain then a dry & colder weekend before turning mild again next week. Another 12mm and this will be our wettest January on record (1960-2021) Graham |

I've only received 45.3mm so far this month which is less than half of the estimated long term average for the whole of January. Rain to come this week though, which should edge closer to the mean.
