A grand total of 0.2mm on Thursday, 0.4mm Friday.
Can't see much coming from the now fragmented rain band to the north, so the drought continues. At least today should be the coolest day. Graham Penzance |

With the brisk east wind we had at times, it is far too dry for the potato crop. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather...ate=2020-06-11 Setups all wrong for surf though, set to be rubbish for the for the foreseeable future, after some superb conditions late May. Christ, is it boring having a broken leg. Graham Penzance |

We've got a massive strawberry crop, just starting to turn red. Yes it hurt.. Trouble is I won't be able to drive for another 3 weeks or so, Barbara can't drive & getting a taxi is not advisable under current conditions, so I'm rather trapped at home. Forget what the press say about busy beaches in the recent hot spell, it's absolutely devoid of tourists down here, apart from the few surfers vans. The St Ives webcams are a real eye opener. Normally on cloudy, cool day in JJne, you'd have to force your way through crowds in St. Ives, not a spare inch. Today https://www.aspects-holidays.co.uk/st-ives-webcam not a soul Completely catastrophic the west Cornwall economy. I don't see how things can open up, and get anything remotely like social distancing in the typical Cornish narrow lane resort. It normally takes half an hour to get to the front of the queue to the bar even somewhere like Sennen in July. Graham Penzance |

I wouldn't like to be stuck indoors at the moment. Really enjoying our afternoon walks in near solitude. The holiday-related economy is suffering here, too. The National Park Authority is actively discouraging visitors. All public toilets are closed as well as cafes, pubs and most visitor 'attractions'. I fear that many small businesses won't survive. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. https://peakdistrictweather.org twitter: @TideswellWeathr |
