Default West Cornwall - very wet.

43.8mm in the 24 hours to 09:00, some very heavy bursts, like a waterfall at times. The wettest 09:00-09:00 period of 2019. No thunder here though.

At 18:58 yesterday the rainfall rate at Lands End peaked at 228mm per hour! (Interesting Lands End Station screen grab on request)

Sea conditions on the north coast are very poor, not the best of beach days!

A day of sunshine and short, sharp, showers yesterday giving a total of
12.6 mm, much of that total came down in a few minutes during a
thunderstorm around midday.

Monthly total nearly 24 mm.

I'd appreciate a bit of thunder.

A day of 2 parts here today. Persistent rain dawn to 11:00 (around 9mm in total, so not light). Then a sudden clearance, long warm sunny periods since 11:15. 21.4C max in nice clean Atlantic air. It has such a different feel to continental air.

A brief but intense shower has just deposited 3.4 mm in the gauge. Looks
clear to the west so that should be it for this month. Monthly total now
up to 27.2 mm.

There have been 3 thunderstorms this month. The one on the 23rd was
quite spectacular with almost continuous lightning and thunder right
overhead but the storm was at significant altitude. There was no rain
for most of the storm so we lay on the lawn watching it in the dark.
With the temperature still at 23C and not a breath of wind, it was
summer storm watching at its best.

Sidmouth Folk Week starts on Friday. Hope the weather improves. The
campers are arriving in their droves. Still, this rain means they might
be able to get their tent pegs into the ground and there shouldn't be
too much dust blowing around this year.
