Default So where is this storm?

For 24 hours have heard nothing but severe weather, Heavy rain, Thunderstorms, Hail and so on.

Here on the coast of West Sussex it was a little breezy today and a couple of hours of much needed steady rain.

The forecast on BBC at lunchtime stated thunderstorms which could be heavy at times will reach the south coast by early afternoon spreading North from France.

No sferics showing all afternoon in that whole area and besides a light shower it's been quite pleasant.

Gale force winds from this afternoon onwards has also been a damp squib, Wind here at Shoreham is currently 120 degrees at 6kts.

I give up these days on any forecast even being remotely accurate :-(

Nothing to speak of here, either (Warlingham, NE Surrey). A little rain in the morning, a light shower this afternoon. No thunder and not much wind either though I think it will pick up later in the night. Not an easy one for the forecasters but, having said that, this is pretty poor.

A deluge around midnight, with rain / hail / 40mph gust, brought the event total to 40.5mm here (37.2mm in the 24 hours to 09:00 - wettest day since October, & 3.3mm just before 09:00 yesterday).

As Penzance was not in the 'warning' area, it appears they overestimated the rain (and wind) to the east of the depression, and underestimated the activity on the wrap around front.

Yesterday narrowly avoided being my coldest ever JUne day (lowest max 13C on 12/6/93) but only just it reached 13.2C. However, at no point during daylight hours did it exceed 12C, the 13.2C was reached about 8:45 this morning..

It was quite an event here by any standards.

Never a big swell though, nothing of note over the northern Atlantic, just a wind sea.
