New local record, 28c range, historic day in France.
Une météo historique!
Today we appear to have broken February temperature records, locally and across France.
Previous record that I can find locally, was 22c in Bugeat, (4km to my South east) on 13/2/1998. Today 22.7c at Perols-sur-Vézère (760m), 8km to my South East, maybe a little higher at nearby St Angel. 22.3c in my garden.
Last night Perols was -5c, incredible, here on the hill, 1.8c, quite a difference between the two and obviously an inversion, but also a daytime inversion with Perols 21.9c at 1330 and Brive, 40km away and generally 4 to 5 c higher, 17.9c.
Over 100 weather records in France yesterday, but today in France, the national maximum average temperature was 21.3c, beating 28/2/1960 by 1.1c. I've seen 28.1c reported today and a number of places in SW France 26c+.
On a decline now and snow features in the forecast for next week, but rain would be a blessing, otherwise big problems are looming.
