SYNOP: 41225 80910 10049 20039 40113 57026 76562 887// 333 87704 88708= High cloud cleared quickly to the east on Monday late afternoon. Stratocumulus conitnued to thin and disperse, leaving long clear periods in the first half of the night, with ground frost. Upper cloud from the approaching front spread in from the west and thickened during the second half of the night, lifting temperatures, with rain starting around 0600z and becoming moderate or heavy after 0700z. Surface wind was calm or light until after 0300z when it picked up to a F3-4 easterly. Good visibility, becoming moderate or poor in precipitation. SYNOP: 11330 80913 10076 20068 40066 58047 60152 76562 887// 333 88707= A wet and dull morning, with a cold easterly breeze. Low cloud persists but the base is slightly higher than earlier. Poor visibility. Continuous heavy rain for most of the morning, but it did ease back to the upper end of moderate between 0945z and 1115z. 1500z: 25006KT 30km Recent rain 1ST012 7SC020 (/AC120 /CI250) 9.2/8.1 QFF 1005.1 rising.
SYNOP: 41480 72506 10092 20081 40051 55015 72162 87532 333 81712 87620= Heavy rain continued till 1330z when it decreased to moderate, with a short heavy burst just after 1400z as the cold front went through, before stopping around 1415z. Max rainfall rate was 17.4 mm/hr at 1325z, and 28.4 mm in total fell since the rain started just before dawn. On the passage of the front the wind veered right round to westerly and decreased to F2-3, the low cloud cleared away, the temperature and dewpoint levelled off, and the barometer bottomed out.
