Upper cloud cleared by the end of Thursday afternoon to leave a clear evening. Cloud and showers spread in after midnight, but with some good clear spells between the showers at first. Moderate precipitation for a short time just before 0500z, and since then it has been cloudy with continuous slight rain. Only a small amount of stratus this morning, with a solid deck of low altostratus above. Not a whiff of convective cloud - this looks like organised dynamic rainfall. Curretly cloudy and feeling cool, despite very light southerly drift. Visibility is good in spite of the precipitation. Minimum temperature overnight was 8.7 (0304z).

Rain increased moderate to heavy between 0650z and 0800z, but is now slight again. A fair bit of stratus developed in the rain, but it is now dispersing - as is the medium cloud from the west. Visibility is reasonable, and the surface wind is a light SSE'ly. Stratus is moving from south to north. A cooler night last night - the coolest since 23rd June. There have only been two sub-10 minima since 24th June, and only 6 over the whole summer so far.

Slight rain earlier stopped before 1000z, then there were some slight rain showers between 1000z and 1100z. Since then cloud has broken and there is now a small amount of convective cloud with some stratocumulus and altocumulus above. Total cloud cover just about half cover. Visibility has improved to excellent.
