After a couple of brief showers yesterday, dropping 1mm, a very heavy shower went through around 22:00. Then another around 23:00 when the SSW wind briefly became a strong NW gusting 30mph. Another shower at 03:30 was accompanied by thunder.
The total rainfall for the 24 hours to 09:00 being 11.2mm, easily the highest total since May, beating 4.3mm on 15th July. A big swell now for Summer, 3m at Sevenstones & increasing. Not particularly large, but given the number of small boats around, and the number of kids arriving today desperate to use their new bodyboard, it could be an interesting time for the coastguard, lifeboats & lifeguards. Great for the windsurfers at Marazion. Last nights minimum 12.0C, down from 18.6 the previous night. Graham Penzance |
