RMK: With a max of 30.3° it's the hottest day of the

classic Cb anvils visible far to the NE but,
unfortunately, they're receding.

The only really hot weather here was late June / early July when there was an easterly drift, even at Lands End it was hot
http://www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/LET.html Something which may recur in a weeks time according to the models. Just very warm of late with temperature in the low to mid 20s, plenty warm enough.

SST topped 20C at Perranporth Buoy and Sevenstones today. It was 22C a couple of feet under the surface in 5' of water at Perranuthnoe this morning, according to my pebble weighted thermometer. Positively tepid.

A lot of comparisons between 1976 & 2018 lately, I thought was interesting

In Tideswell we're right on the edge of the action at the moment with a
good downpour to E and N of Bakewell, only a few miles to the east of
us. Very impressive Cb buildup visible from my office window. Looks
like we'll miss it all, though, so it's back to watering the turf that
we had laid recently :-(

Plenty of lightning, I wonder how much rain is reaching the ground? The storms seem to be moving north at a pretty rapid rate.
