Maximum of 24.9C yesterday in basically unbroken sunshine & little wind. It did dip briefly to 22C mid afternoon in a very gentle sea breeze, before recovering to around 24C by 18:00. A more noticeable NE set in during the evening. Just a few small Cu in a line visible along the spine of the Lizard, indicating some convergence.
Minimum of 16.6C last night. Today set to be just as warm despite a noticeable F3 occasionally 4 NNE breeze. Currently (noon) not a cloud in the sky that I cam see, not even the smallest Cu or patch of Ci. Not even a contrail. Graham Penzance |

Today set to be just as warm despite a noticeable F3 occasionally 4 NNE breeze. Same here Graham, no cloud or contrails. The heat has been building again after 4 mostly sunny days. Warmer than yesterday's 28.3C, already up to 30.8C at 12:30 with a 17C dewpoint. The sea breeze has just arrived to turn what was becoming a rather oppressive day into something a little more comfortable. Headed for the beach yesterday afternoon and it was very quiet (I don't know why) apart from a few foreign holiday-makers. The sea has reached that temperature where it is soooo pleasant to swim in. No ooooohhhh, ahhhhh upon entry and definitely no wetsuit required for even very lengthy immersions. The sea was glassy calm and with a very defined thermocline at about 1.3 metres down. It was 'invigorating' diving down into the cooler, gin-clear water underneath. Sea breeze seems to be failing.... time to head to the beach again. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

Meanwhile at Lands End! http://www.landsendweather.info/ Also 26C at Culdrose. 30 day running sunshine total looks likely to hit 300 hours soon, even over the moors, as the 15th -21st June saw limited sunshine http://www.greatbosullow.net/ Graham Penzance |

The temperature briefly peaked at 31.1C an hour ago during a lull in the sea breeze. That is the equal highest temperature (20th June 2017) I have ever recorded (2005). What a sizzler. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

Graham Penzance Now 26.0C, the 1st 26C of 2018 in Penzance, though there have been some near misses. 25.8C on 2nd July, 25.7C on 1st July. It has exceeded 27C this month away from the immediate coast, even up at Culdrose, where it's very exposed. SST even well offshore at Sevenstones now approaching 19C. https://www.ndbc..noaa.gov/station_p...?station=62107 The twice daily cycle apparent in the temperatures is down to the tidal flows.
