I was worried that a heavy thunderstorm in the ealy hours might ruin my dry June. However, although there were a couple of brief sharp bursts, and a few spots now, only 1.0mm fell. It looks far heavier to the east, but how much is actually reaching the ground (Len?)
Minimum of 17.2C last night. It was warmer @ 21:00 (21.5) than it was mid afternoon, when it briefly dipped to around 20C in a classic sea breeze onset, it didn't last. (OT - you have been warned!) but now the fact that food unnecessarily wrapped in plastic also requires the use of a considerable amount of CO2 is general knowledge, I found this comment in the Cove Diary (the Old Boathouse stores, Sennen) amusing "The young maid began to list items from her little shopping notebook and after each item I told her which shelf or which fridge that item was in. They seemed almost disappointed that we had every item that they listed. Perhaps next time I will point them at the denuded shelves of Tesmorburys and their carbon dioxide fuelled lettuce." Somehow I survive living on food which is left open on the shelves to decay.. As for plastic wrapped ice cubes! May I suggest making your own ice in a freezer, in a re-usable container. Controversial, but it may just work! Glass reusable milk bottles even, why haven't these things been thought of before? Graham Penzance https://www.facebook.com/plasticfreepenzance/ |

It has been raining for the last hour, nothing intense just good steady rain. 6.0 mm so far and more to come. Distant thunder rumbling away out over the bay where it looks rather dark. First recordable rain since the 30th May. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

Now 22C, no wind & 80% humdity. Starting to feel oppressive, certainly 'feels' warmer than yesterday when we had a sea breeze. Total rainfall 1.4mm, but you wouldn't know it had rained. Cloudless now to the S & SW https://www.aspects-holidays.co.uk/w...michaels-mount Graham Penzance |

Still thundering in the distance but the storms seem to be staying out over the Bay. It has gone very dark, down to 11 w/m² and feels cool with a temperature of only 16.6C. According to the satellite picture it won't be long before this clears through and we'll be as 'sunny and steamy' as you, hopefully. Still, it has filled the water butts up! -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

All way above current forecast temperature & still rising. I've got a bodyboarding session at Sennen tomorrow around 11am (half tide) Should be a 2-3' wave - hopefully. You & your other half should pop down again before the school holidays & screaming kids. Excuse for a beer! Graham |

Excuse for a beer! Rain stopped, now sunny intervals and temperature getting up to something more akin for the 1st of July. A very welcome 19.1 mm of rain fell this morning. Graham, would love to get over your way but not looking likely before the summer holidays. That darn thing called work keeps getting in the way. And 90 miles is a long way to go for a beer..... ![]() -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |
