Most of those echoes are missing from the Met Office radar, so I guess netweather.tv uses the raw data - or at least a supply that has less post-processing than the Met Office do. There was 0.3mm associated with the showery front mid morning. It certainly seems more of feature when the winds onshore - though that might well be down to the higher humidity associated with a southerly wind flow, rather than the direction itself.
