Almost every cold spell I can remember has gone out with a whimper so it is quite impressive to see this one produce a further spell of fine blowing snow at -1 in London that started at 1430 and is still going strong at 1900. Not really showing on radar but real enough. (Oddly the accumulated snow depth of not seem to have increased. Still 7 cm.) No sign of a thaw but we are assured by the met office that it will all be melting by the early hours. Nevertheless will have been more than 4 days with temperature not rising above zero (since Tuesday evening).
A relatively short but memorable event. |

Oops 3 days not 4. Still, impressive - especially the -4 with wind and blowing snow on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
