Well, sort of.

Just as the N wind set in the sleet turned to heavy snow. To warm toreally

Anyway, Morrison's was put on hold as I headed up to the moors. Immediately
behind Penzance at 150' or so the fields were sort of white. Then as I headed
higher, the snow turned to sleet. By the time I reached 500' it was rain. It
was a case of being nearer the north onshore coast more than offsetting the
affect of altitude. I've known that happen a few times in a northerly, rain
on the highest points (800'ish) which are just a mile from the north coast,
but a snow cover just behind Penzance at 200' or so. Looking east along the
peninsula, you could pick out the line where the rain/sleet off the sea
turned to proper snow, 2 or 3 miles inland.

The only area in west Cornwall where it's properly settled for more than a
few minutes, is the Redruth to Helston cold zone. Well away from the north
coast and fairly high. E.g. just to the south of Carn Brea.

GFS are now forecasting rain showers here by day, and frequent quite heavy
snow showers this evening & night. It would be good if that's right.

Anyway, all interesting stuff

Thanks for that Graham, all very fascinating as you say. Just light snow on and
off here in Haytor but it is cold enough to settle up here as ground is still
frozen.

It's all wasted down in Cornwall :-)
