Nick Gardner wrote: A surprising touch of 'spring' this afternoon. The morning rain cleared and I expected the temperature to drop away in the clearance but instead it went up from 11C at 9am (during the rain) to a maximum of 12.3C before slowly cooling from mid-afternoon. Still 8.1C at 19:45. With light winds and nearly 4 hours of sunshine, it was a lovely day. The gorse flowers are looking a treat, and the catkins are out as well as a few primroses here and there. I've even seen the proverbial daffs and crocuses out in sheltered spots. Little do they know what's coming! T'missus wants to go up Dartmoor on Saturday to get a snow-fix. I expect the Devonshire hordes will be heading there too with their sledges. Yes all the bleedin lowlanders clogging the roads trying to drive on snowy/icy lanes (often unsuccessfully). Sleet here this morning in Haytor, snow tonight. Thaw weds evening then more snow Fri/Sat. All change tomorrow - brrrrr! Still, it might be a fairly sunny spell here despite the chill. |
