With the blocking high to the west generally in decline, the surf is set to pick up, in fact it's been a better wave today than for a long time. A high to the west means little swell, even it is blowing a real gale, as it certainly was a couple of days back. The recent rough sea & wind wave being replace by a proper swell today, 10' or so at Sevenstones.
However, Thursday should see the biggest, and most powerful, swell of the month so far. Forecast to peak near 20' at Sennen. The best spots will be where there's shelter from the westerly wind. The cold spell hasn't been particularly cold here, even by Cornish standards. Not even a ground frost, the only white being a covering of hail yesterday evening. Graham Penzance |

Graham Penzance Magic Seaweed was spot on as normal. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=62107 Mind you, yesterdays weather didn't make it inviting, except for the extreme few. All peaceful on the western front after yesterdays mayhem, it really was quite a day. After all the accidents and road closures in the morning, it was just as bad later in the day. Not just the hail covered roads, there were accidents caused by lorries caught out in the severe gusts. Still the odd gust to 50mph at Land's End, but all much more normal. Graham Penzance |

Graham Penzance Oh, a new webcam, rather a good view. You can see it's a reasonble period swell, no longer just a wind wave. https://www.atlanticcottageholidays....m-sennen-cove/ Still a bit bleak this afternoon Graham Penzance |
