Default Feels like . . . . .

Tomasz Schaffernacker only gave windchill temperatures for Friday (London 0°C, Edinburgh -6°C). Of course if you stood out of the wind the temperature would miraculously shoot up. Not to mention the actual temperature is dumbed-down nonsense. This was Radio 4, the Stupid People's network.
Schaffernacker's proper place in the scheme of things is in giggly downmarket showbiz.

I wonder how many people expect to see ice forming when the wind-chill
"temperature" is below zero.

I wonder if Schaffernacker was paying an indirect compliment to R4 listeners by assuming they would not be so daft as to assume a windchill below zero would actually freeze water. No, I don't think so. Of course if the wet-bulb was below 0° there could be ice with the dry-bulb above zero. Maybe that was what he was getting at. No, he wasn't. Why do we have to put up with this nonsense?

He can often be one of the best giving the most detailed and technical
forecasts of those remaining sometimes. But if you catch him on a bad
day ....... I think he fancies himself as a bit of a "stand up" and
plays to whatever audience he thinks he's got.
