With an absolute max so far of 20.0C it is looking like this August will
not top 20C. This is the first time since August 1986 that this has not
happened in my records. Last 20C+ here was July 18th and there have been
just 12 occasions this summer, 4 each in May, June and July. It has been a
sunny year though, with 1220 hours(114%) so far.

August to date
Mean max 17.6C mean min 9.9C mean 13.8C(-0.5C) rain 50.5mm(72%) sun
174.5hr(111%) wind SW 8.6KT(+0.8KT)

Blimey Ken, such a contrast and given that you've had more sunshine than
down 'ere makes it all the more a surprise.

There have been 4 days at or below 20.0C and 3 of those were +19C.

Mean maximum now at 21.9C and there's been (1st - 29th), a rather below
par 171.0 hours of sunshine. Last year's August yielded 242 hours.

Annual sunshine to date = 1271 hours which is below average. Unless
there's a seriously sunny autumn, this year will struggle to get to the
average for the last 12 years (~1900 hours).

Before anyone runs away with the idea that the whole SW is a hot place. I have
only had 4 days over 20C this month and I'm at 1000 feet like Ken. My average
max. temp. too is around 19C. Today it has been 10 to 11C all morning so far.
