As the Daytime Fan-Aspirated Radiation Shield (FARS) is powered purely by the solar panels mounted on the ISS door, how long does it run when the sun goes in, or is it pretty much like an on/off switch? Mine is a 24hr battery/solar FARS but I know from when my batteries died and it was running purely off solar that the cut-off was when the solar sensor was reading around 33-35w/m2. -- Brian Wakem Lower Bourne, Farnham, Surrey http://www.brianwakem.co.uk/weather Live obs @ 19:57:16 : 13.7C, DP 8.1C, RH 69%, 0.4 mm Yes the sun almost acts like a switch I've noticed, now that I have a day at home to observe. Still strange that between 10 and 11am the VP was over 1°C higher than the WMII, and the fan was running, can't quite see why. Although the important thing is daily maximum, which will tend to be in the afternoon, when both stations now seem to stay much closer in comparison. 0.8mm of rain earlier this morning. Keith (Southend) This shows well why the sunshine is not always in front of the solar panels this time of year. http://suncalc.net/#/51.5657,0.6745,15/2017.05.15/18:04 Keith (Southend) |
