Graham Hi, Graham It's this stubborn European blocking high. Any wind from north clockwise to south-east is bad news for Teesdale. Ken Any direction other than NNW-NNE tends to bring crud here. We're exposed to the east coast and the west coast. Persistent slight to moderate snow so far today. The temp has crept up to +0.9 so there is a bit of a thaw. The lying snow increases during the heavier bursts and decreases when it gets lighter. The next 24 hours looks like possibly causing a few problems. Fortunately, I don't have any need to venture far. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org @TideswellWeathr |

Our best is from the west, as you will know, with the shelter of the high Pennines and Lake District fells. Anything clockwise from south-east to north-west is good for us. Mostly rain now(19Z) but snow expected to return for a time tomorrow. Ken |

Ken Unless there's a lot of dynamic forcing we do not too badly in a SW'ly as we're in a bit of a shadow from Wales but it can't de relied on! Our worst direction is W-NW when the shower stream coming in from Liverpool Bay gets a bit of orographic enhancement and we end up with incessant rain. Sleeting here now with the temp stuck on +1.2°. We've got a yellow snow warning valid from 2100 till 1500 tomorrow. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org @TideswellWeathr |
