Default Uk weather----Hampstead storm.............

The 41 st anniversary of this prolonged and intense downpour is in a few
days.I was looking for data on the storm and one of the interesting pieces
was from this site;

https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.word...f-the-century/

It set me thinking that a repeat performance in parts of London particularly
the City would be catastrophic now and a nightmare for insurers let alone
those caught in basements,subways,underground systems, super
sewers,Crossrail etc. some of the basements are four-storey can you
believe,see this item from the Guardian;

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...-iceberg-homes

In Poland recently there were violent storms with huge falls of hail of a
certain size that clogged gutters,drainage systems and similar thus
aggravating the overflow of storm water.

Hopefully the new super sewers might help run off.Next week it looks as
though the atmosphere will be energised with the ingredients of heat and
moisture so hefty downpours on the cards.

Just food for thought.

I'm grateful for that--excuse my ignorance courtesy Geography and not
Physics 'A' level knowledge but why divergence rather than convergence
according to your chart?
I did see the cloud structure that day 14/08/75 from London Bridge at approx
17.00 hrs BST and ,without knowing something exceptional would happen,did
observe an isolated cumulonimbus ,relatively quite narrow,powering its way
upwards and at great vertical extent but with no glaciation.
We do study your Google site and are pleased experts like Martin
Rowley,David Smart and your good self et al submit such interesting
contributions.
Until I retire I need to remain anonymous in view the sensitivity of my job
so until then Usenet is for posting.
