It was wet/windy overnight 17th/18th, with 11.1mm of rain.
However the weather on the 18th was very different to that just to the east over Devon, where the front ground to a halt. Light to moderate S - SW winds, sunny spells & brief drizzle showers, which gave some superb rainbows. Max 10.7C after a minimum of 7.9C, so temperatures above normal once again. Only 0.4mm in the 24 hours to 09:00 today. Last night, as the front edged back westward, the cloud cover kept the temperature up, minimum 7.3C. Today, rather better than predicted, the front decayed quickly. There has been no rain, and just broken decaying medium/high level frontal cloud this afternoon. In fact it was a decent, bright, quite pleasant, fine afternoon http://www.sennen-cove.com/index.htm. Signs of colder air creeping in, temperature between 8 & 9C virtually all day, but dipping now. Too much of a SE breeze for any chance of our 1st air frost since February 2015. Decent clean wave on the north coast. Graham Penzance |
