A 'dangler' gave 1 shower after another all night. A total of 8.1mm in the 12 hours to 09:00. Plenty of hail.
It was also the 1st real blow of the Autumn, by quite a way. 70kt gust at St Ives. A peak MEAN speed of 56mph at Land's End, thats nudging F10. That would but it at the top of the land based PEAK gusts on DBs recent weather chart, when the program was full of storm hype and pretence that a rough sea was huge, it was 12' at Sevenstones', it's currently 17'. (I seem to remember mentioning it at the time!.) A proper gale at last, someting to get a bit excited about. Temperaturewise it fell to 4.8C in Penzance. The dangler has now edged just east of Penwith http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ and we are in the slightly less cold air to the west. Back up to 8.1C @ 09:00. Graham Penzance |
