October is normally a very wet month here (November is the wettest) Even away from the typically frequent frontal systems & misty warm sectors, we get frequent showers in the cold sector (warm seas) unlike spring /summer when the sea is colder relative to the land. In fact, to give you an idea of how just wet October normally is here, only 2 months since 1990 have failed to exceed 90mm.

This year is certainly different.

It was real chilly one here last night with a minimum of 2.4°C (well, it
is a valley floor rural location).

Temperature rose slowly under the sunshine but still managed 15.8°C.
Mean temperature (1st -13th) = 12.7C.

Dry(ish) too with 17.6 mm so far in what is normally one of the wetter
months of the year.

This is turning out, like September to be a sunny month. I've recorded
84.0 hours of sunshine so far and as with September and the rest of the
summer - the days have been warm but the nights cold.

October sunshine:
2014 = 118 hours
2013 = 119 hours
2012 = 164 hours
2011 = 120 hours
2010 = 164 hours
2009 = 111 hours
2008 = 144 hours
2007 = 128 hours.

Just 13.7mm here so far this month. Looking at Bosullow, about 60 hours of sun so far, but that is up on the moors.
