Unbroken sunshine today. A brisk, warm easterly wind.
In Penzance there is often a BIG difference between a SE wind (off the sea) and an E wind (descending off the moors south of Camborne/Redruth). It's the latter we had today. That direction, plus the unbroken sunshine pushed the temperature up to 19.0C, after a warmer night with a minimum of 12.7C. Last 2 days 18.3C & 18.4C. The mean temperature for the day,(max+min)/2 being the highest since the 10th. It has certainly been a bit blowy, max gust 37mph at Land's End, where the mean speed peaked at 28mph. Down at Sennen there was a directly offshore wind peaking the 3' clean wave beautifully. (There was no wave yesterday.) I had a free couple of hours and made the most of it. The spray blowing off the top as each wave broke gave a particularly fantastic rainbow effect as it passed, the spray being blown back right overhead. I was as near as you can get to the pot of gold, really must get a waterproof camera. With the tide right out it was distinctly breezy in the sea, it felt warmer in the water than exposed to the wind, but at least there was some warm shelter to take the wetsuit off. Graham Penzance |

Bit like teetotallers say they live longer; no, it just feels like it. -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks. [Retd meteorologist/programmer] http://www.scarlet-jade.com/ I wear the cheese.
