The absence of wheel tracks on the road at the Cat & Fiddle suggests that
either the road has been closed or nobody is bothering to to drive over it. See http://www.maccinfo.com/Webcam/Webcamn200.jpg -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org |

See http://www.maccinfo.com/Webcam/Webcamn200.jpg Cat&Fiddle road was reported closed yesterday while we were stuck in traffic crawling along E bound on the M62. The reason for the delay? Slightly bad weather with a tiny amount of snow and visibility reduced to 1 mile on the top coupled with rubbernecking idiots looking at a broken down caravan on the other carriageway. Once we passed the obstruction on the *opposite* carriageway the traffic freed up and became fast enough to melt the snow that was building up between lanes. Air temperature was 2C and there was barely enough snow to make the moors white so it was ludicrous that there should have been so much chaos on the M62. I gather more snow in Derbyshire from the news. The online motorway cameras and premises webcams are very useful for checking the weather on these high routes on midwinter journeys. -- Regards, Martin Brown |
