Looking at the radar there look to be a couple of elongated streamers extending into SW England with some high intensity rainfall colours embedded in them.

A rainless thunderstorm here at 02:45 today. Then another at 10:00 but
with useful rain this time.

Thunder rumbling all around at the moment (19:15) but no rain.

As normal in Mid Devon (Newton St Cyres), no thunderstorms here (or even
thunder). Just some showers from high level cloud - big drops but not heavy.

I don't think I've had more than 10 thunderstorms in the 11 years I've
lived here

One clap of thunder here at 1215 BST.
Only 2.1 mm of rain though to 1800 BST.

Don't like the look of radar echoes heading our way now.
It's hide in the cupboard time.

Interesting as I would have thought that being inland you would have had
more thunderstorms than that.

Many times here near the coast, especially during the afternoons of
spring and summer we have unbroken sunshine whilst inland to the north
the sky is dark and you can hear thunder rumbling away.

I suspect the topography of the Blackdown Hills is the cause here.

Since 2005 I have recorded an average of around 10 to 15 days a year
when thunderstorms have occurred. I wonder if places like Honiton and
Dunkeswell record more?
