Default This group has now sunk too low - I'm out

After the latest posting of contributor's address (I don't care if the address was genuine or not) this group is now totally scraping the barrel.

I'm out to join the many others who have been forced out by the idiots.

Matin whlst I appreciate your sentiments and obviously concur with your
misgivings ,I think its worth pointing out that many groups like this are
populated by nutters ,misfits and probably perverts to boot ,most of us are
purely interested in the sublect of weather and glean a lot from the the
knowledgable contributions received daily.
I killfile or just ignore the rants of those who try to dominate these
hallowed halls, and try to just enjoy the really good stuff we get most of
the time, please keep contributing ,ignore the corrosive dross, and don't run
away like so many of our previous esteemed contributors. Don't let the
freaks take over !
Nil desperandum illigitimi desperandum, as they used to say in the RAF .

I take your point Ron but posting an address brings the virtual nastiness right out into the real world. It is the final straw for me as it suggests that there might be face-to-face confrontation, people or even families at risk from anything from stalking to actual violence. I can't be a part of that. I could take the nutters, denialists, irrationalists, and others of their ilk, but not actual physical threats, whether explicit or implied.

I will continue to lurk but will not post again except maybe to report unusual weather events. I didn't contribute much but I am former MetO employee who retains an interest in the weather, I'm sorry to leave.

Slightly surprised to see it was Joe Eggington, I know he's locked horns
with Dawlish before but he wouldn't have expected that.

I'm out to join the many others who have been forced out by the idiots.

The killfile is the only way. You can't reason with them, you can't bargain
with them and they absolutely will *not* stop until they have destroyed
this group. I don't know why I even bother to try to be honest, perhaps
it's just the sheer exasperation of seeing yet another thread wrecked by
what is just a very small group of people.

I agree with those sentiments. I think this borders on harrassment of
an individual, which is a criminal offence. If that was me, I would be
seeking legal advice.

It is very sad that the internet is becoming a refuge for the nasty
individuals who believe they are immune from prosecution. I think that
recent events on Twitter havr proved this idea to be very misguided, as
well as cruel.

Getting worried are we?

Under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997:
"A person must not pursue a course of conduct
• "(a) which amounts to harassment of another, and
• "(b) which he knows or ought to know amounts to harassment of the other."[1]

That definition is open to interpretation.

The nasty individuals are ones that think they can get away with
regular personal insults of others on the many and varied internet
forums, message boards, social media sites, etc,.

Why would I get worried I've never bullied anyone and the only time I've reacted towards anyone is when they've been personally nasty to me because they didn't like what I'd said , not about an individual but a subject.

The worst I've ever done is a gentle leg pull to a pee take. However I would be mortified to think that I'd ever initiated nastiness towards anyone that wasn't a response to the first instance.

Any example you can show me , who ever you are, I will always show that I countered a nasty remark.

As for the person who it seems you're are reluctant to name as apparently somehow the victim, is in fact the nastiest person ever to stalk this NG . There has never been a man who upset so many good people and I don't include myself in that group, no people like Will, Tudor the late Mike Tullet plus many others.

So unless you are another Dawlish sock puppet, which can only explain your suggestion that I'm getting worried, then you need to understand that you post is essentially about the bully being exposed not being bullied.

-----------------------------------------------
I more or less agree with Ron and Col but am deeply upset by the violent
tone and veiled threats to a family by posting an address. ZZebowa is
the perpetrator and egged on by the usual people who have a vendetta
agaist Dawlish on the grounds that he is patronising, sometimes rude
when provoked and has views they don't agree with. That is not
sufficient for me for the level of hatred. As just about the longest
serving remaining member on here I am hanging on by a thread (no pun
intended)to think it is worthwhile. I just don't want to give in to
those whose prime intention is to ruin the Group. If you don't know who
you are you are the ones who supported the sentiments of the original
poster and as the decent people I thought you were you should be ashamed.
People think that Dawlish is the reason for so many people leaving but I
have it first hand that others have left for different reasons, right
back as far as Philip Eden and they are not for the reasons that people
like to propagate on here.

I'm totally exasperated with dullish and his arrogant rantings. If
posting his home address brings him to book, to behave civilised and
respect people then so be it. I thought it was time to name and shame
the bully.
