I always find odd when I look round the room and cannot see or find a single thing around me that didn't require a Scientist or Engineer to create it! And yet some equate that with creationism -a jarring theme to science. Interesting point. If only they would reach outside the room. |

I wouldn't mind someone saying they don't like his presentational style or there is a better way of validating scientific data than peer reviews etc. but all these conspiracy theories and basically calling him names are, as we say in this part of the world, "doing my'ead in"! Dave I find his style rather more agreeable than I'd have thought, given what I'd read about some of his earlier stuff. It's true he is just *slightly* a pretty boy and has that *slightly* poofy middle-class Manchester accent but what the hell does that matter in comparison with his obvious earnest commitment to science and the desire to educate people in it. People should listen to his actual words; there's a robustness there and maybe this is what gets up the nose of his critics on this group. Brian Cox is a Good Thing, maybe not (yet) a David Attenborough. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. |

Just found out more things to dislike Cox for and why the BBC love him so. He was in the band D Ream and used their ghastly pop song 'Things Can Only Get Wetter' was used by the ghastly Labour party to get into power as their theme song........yuck. I don't think that was the *only* reason they won the election, though... ![]() -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |

Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. ========================================== In the past I have been irritated by his presentational style, but in the first episode of "Science Brittanica" he seemed to have toned it down, and I wasn't distracted by it at all. In fact I thought the program was very good (entertainment.) I am just fed up seeing the trailer where he reports Watson and Crick went into the pub, and wait for it, announced they had discovered the secret of life, and then, wait for it again, had a pint of beer (groan). Cheers, Alastair. |

It is quite hard to find something that does not rely to some extent on Science in its broadest sense. There are of course the flora and fauna we see, but it took a Scientist to classify them :-) Dave I'm not Bruce - he's exmetman. I don't mind but he might! |
