After 4 days in the mid 20s, a max of 18.9C today, the lowest since 17.6C on 3rd July. Much of the day it was around 6C down on the same time the last few days, in fact it was warmer at 11pm yesterday than 11am today. Still pleasant enough though with sunshine & light winds.
The temperature should start heading back up again tomorrow. No swell now, http://www.sennen-cove.com/harbourcam.htm and no forecast of anything for some time. Graham Penzance |

Just when you think it's safe to give a maximum temperature
After 4 days in the mid 20s, a max of 18.9C today The temperature decides to have a little peak, 19.4C @ 18:00ish. I know many threads turn to gardening, but can I just warn people NEVER WATER THE LAWN, it makes it grow so it's bad news all round. You waste time watering, then you waste time mowing, the lawn'll recover. Graham |

You waste time watering, then you waste time mowing, the lawn'll recover. A maximum of 20.6C here today despite the unbroken sunshine, that is over 8C lower than yesterday. It was down to a strong sea breeze blowing all day long that has been absent since the 7th. It's alright. I am not going to water the lawn. Tap water is far too expensive here anyway and what little rainwater I have left in the butts I need to keep for topping up the wildlife pond and bog. This part of Devon is now looking very brown and my lawn has turned to straw/hay/dust. The only greenish-brown bits left are where the sun hasn't managed to scorch it (i.e., permanent shade). This time last year roads had been washed away, rivers were flooded, soils' saturated and land slips were everywhere. Over 120 hours of sunshine for the month to date and a soil sopping 1.5 mm of rain. -- Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
