Hi
Just driven up to Wellington and back on the M5 and it looks like a Christmas card resplendent with what must be almost 6 inches of snow. The M5 is two lanes on the higher bits rather quiet as to be expected but still with lots of HGV drivers doing the full 70 MPH in driving snow. Still moderate snow in Bradninch with an OAT of 0.7°C where it seem to have been since 7 PM yesterday. I take it the snow is from the convective cells coming in off the channel(?) The BBC did mention a few snow flurries over Exmoor but its been moderate snow most of the morning here - reminds me of the guy who phoned up the weather bureaux to complain about the 6 inch of partly cloudy on his driveway! Any road above 500 feet I would imagine will be very difficult if not impassable in mid-Devon at the moment, and I'm sure if it had been just a degree or so colder yesterday the 13 mm of rain we had would have ended up being a foot of snow with most, if not all roads in the SW impassable. Bruce. |
