So close, yet so far :-(

S.A.D. kicking in now.

I'll be glad when this cold weather get's here and the sun comes out, it might cheer up some customers who seem to be hybernating and not wanting anything done to their lawns !

With quite high humidity it would've felt uncomfortable.

Actually it didn't - at least not to me. I walked round the centre of Brussels for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon (Monday) wearing a short-sleeved shirt as I might in July. I found the temperature to be ideal, especially as the sun is less intense at this time of year and much lower in the sky.

It seems to be quite a narrow plume of exceptionally warm weather:
most sites in Germany, Austria and Switzerland seem to be reporting
below 20C and some (Munich) even below 10C.
Guess that makes us over here feel less bad, that we're not missing
out on something affecting most of western Europe...

I see that yesterday (Tuesday) Oslo's maximum was only 2C and Moscow's
3C, easily the coldest they have been so far this autumn, while Brussels
still managed 21C.

Yes, I saw your Brussels report after I had posted that. I imagine that
the Telegraph, from which I took the information, used the airport
figure (rounded to the nearest degree).
