Minimum of 7.2C last night, the 1st sub 10C min of the month. Feeling
much fresher this morning. Sunny intervals & a good deal of high cloud, much clearer to the west. Goodbye warmth I fear. Big swell on the north coast now http://www.surfchecklive.com/surfcheck-fistral.html forecast to be 4m+ tomorrow. (OT) but there was a large cliff collapse at Hell's Mouth (near Godrevy) recently. Great video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVjr4mii3cE also recent pics on Cornwall CAM http://www.cornwallcam.co.uk/ Graham Penzance |

Great video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVjr4mii3cE also recent pics on Cornwall CAM http://www.cornwallcam.co.uk/ Reminds me of a rather heated discussion with a spitgeologist/spit some years ago on About.com regarding the excavation of the Grand Canon. Why did you presume acliff collapse is OT? A baby could see that it wasn't eroded. As you can see in the video, it is a dry burst and a great deal of dry dust scoria was left on the surface of the drop. Obviously "mass wasting" takes place whenever a wash is flooded (as is the normal pattern for "runoff" in the Grand Canon, feeding as it does on the summer rains east of California.) I'd like to know how a cliff face erodes due to water abrasion in time to create a canon a mile high and a mile wide. If any thing at a mile wide sedimet should be deposited. What does the panel think? |

Wind increasing steadily this afternon. F2-3 mid morning, now (16:15) F4-5. Occasional big wave sets, one coming into view at the top of http://www.sennen-cove.com/todaysurf.htm Last day to fail to reach 15C was 17th June (14.4). Looks like it will be touch & go tomorrow. It's a popular spot near the Hell's Mouth cafe, and a fine day, so plenty of people probably saw it happen. It's interesting watching the wave in the bottom left hand corner. Graham |
