As I suspected, unfortunately it was a considerably cold outlier.

As was the very cold 00Z GFS operational run. Interesting that both the
GFS and ECMWF 00Z runs were keen to have the high to our west generate a
ridge to its north or northeast, whilst that feature doesn't appear on
the 00Z UKMO (at least not out to T+144). The 06Z GFS operational run is
much less extreme and closer to the 00Z ECMWF.
