I remember Mitch well, I have a beautiful framed high resolution photo
on my wall of Mitch at its peak (sustained winds 195 mph... the
perfect hurricane photo. Unfortunately, it went on to become the third
deadliest in Atlantic basin history with nearly 10,000 deaths

Just as well... it's currently sat precisely on the track taken by an
un-named lesser hurricane of Aug-Sep 1893 (max sustained winds 120
mph) that paralleled the Florida East Coast and went ashore in
Georgia, causing 2,000 deaths. If it doesn't curve Northwards (5 day
forecast is a straight line) it will hit... Georgia.

According to the AFP newsagency "Isabel" is the second major hurricane
to hit the Caribbean this year. They must be using an interesting set of
maps
