Well Joe makes some very valid points: How can the temps have been so warm
yet the ice has increased. Now basic common sense would tell us that if any
government run -shoulder well and truly behind the AGW wheel -climate agency
preaches that RED means run son and boy oh boy are those charts that Joe
showed us, red. Then something was rotten in the state of Denmark

If I agree with Joe and you think we are both wrong all I can say is thank
heavens I'm on the right track.

The ice is recovering and that's a fact get used to it and come to terms
with the fact that the favorite that you backed was nothing more that an
illusion, created by a collection of you know who.

Joe does ask a pertinent question and I've always wondered it myself. The
only explanation I can come up with is that the ice is thinner nowadays, is
that correct?

Well I was thinking that. We all know that this NH blocking winter shoved
the warmth up to the arctic , so it should have been warmer; but I think
Joe feels that the warming has been over egged. Of course the Ice thickness
is vitally important but surely any increase in ice would be first year
stuff which if surviving the NH summer becomes 2nd year ice, and so on.

What can be said is that it's not as simple as some may think and being
simple that means a lot.

You strike me as an intelligent man and are obviously highly
knowledgeable about the weather. I enjoy reading your observations,
apart from the smug bits that is.

Why on earth do you pander to a half wit loser like Lawrence?

The simple answer is that, like so many others, Joe *******i doesn't
believe in all the hype about MMGW, and has serious doubts about the
data, the methods, the integrity and the dubious ideology that
surrounds it all. And rightly so - somebody needs to question it, and
show it up for the alarmist scam that it obviously is. More strength
to his elbow.

Jim, I hope I don't pander to anyone, I'm my own man as you know!

I don't care about newsgroup politics or indeed politics in general or
entrenched positions or prima donnas etc. But I am searching for answers in
the true sense of the word science and it seemed to me that a valid question
had been posed. The only person to attempt to answer it so far has been
Graham Davis and I thank him for that. The rest have just been political
comments and jibes, which can be safely ignored :-)

Cheers,

Will

Well Will is a gentleman and will no doubt just as readily pander to a

I was unable to hear what Joe was saying (probably something to be
grateful for) but I see he seemed to be concentrating on the global and
Antarctic ice situation. The one graph I didn't see was that for the
Arctic. I wonder why. The Arctic ice is less than the recent normal and
much less than a longer-term mean. In any case, the graph for global ice
cover has declined over the past thirty years so what's his problem?

It was reported a few years ago (before the 2007 event, I believe) that
it had thinned by 40% since the 60s. Area of old ice has declined since
then so I suspect the figure is larger now. Flaw leads this year show
that the area of fast ice in the Canadian Archipelago is as low as I've
seen it which strongly suggests the winter ice there is thin.
