John you're right, I'm having a cut 'n' paste meltdown.

The mean temp should be 3.3°C.

Cheers

Nick.

For some reason that didn't cut 'n' paste very well, here's (hopefully) a
better, clearer version, though it looked OK before I posted it:

I'm afraid your mean is still skewed towards the Maximum Nick.
Is the mean not meant to be 3.3ºC?

Yep, cheers Alex for noticing.

For some reason Excel changed the column for averaging from E to D.
Therefore it gave the average of the range of temperature instead. I have
had this happen before with Excel when it changes the range/rows/columns. I
checked with my winter Excel template and it definitely averages the 'E'
column, so how that suddenly changed itself is really strange.

I looked through the data a couple of times before posting but I kept
missing this obvious error!

Aye.

I mean, snow could of fell during the night or when I was not at home, but
if it did, it didn't leave any evidence, i.e., it melted. I make my
observations at 9am every day.

Just looking back over the last few winters, it seems snow is a rare thing
here, it nearly always falls as damn cold rain.

That would tally with my 2009-10 snow memories just along the way in
Dawlish Nick. I think we had 4 days with snow falling; 2 of those were
short showers that left no cover, one fall left a sprinkling and we
had one proper fall of about 2" - the night of the infamous Haldon
Hill debacle! That hung around for a few days. Enough for a gentle
soul like me!

8 days even in Penzance (and a 6 days with a snow cover at 09:00)
There were 3 days with quite heavy snow falling.

That, the large amount of sunshine, and the fact that there were no
gales (except 1 right on the sea front) being the most exceptional
features of the winter here. There were no very low temperatures
(minimum 4.1C)
