Penzance windy - but not that Windy.
Warm & breezy start in Penzance, with some altostratus/altocumulus.
13.8C at 08:45 after an overnight min of 10.4C. I know I've mentioned this before, but once again the MetO has predictions for the wind Penzance to be the same as the Lizard. Forecast for both Penzance & Lizard Mean Speeds of 30mph for around now, 40mph by 13:00. Currently the mean wind speed's well under 20mph, even at the exposedHeliport on the sea front. www.xcweather.co.uk/ shows Penzance is actually one of the less windy spots south of the M4 corridor, due to it's shelter from the ENE (as opposed to the SE - when it can really catches it www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/PzStorm.PDF ). Graham Penzance Despite the gusty generally Force 5 ENE , the temperature reached 17.8C, making it the warmest day of the year. Long sunny periods. Plenty of white horses in the bay. Graham,
ENE 5 - 7 with peak gust at 53 mph at 1300h. ENE tends to be more gusty than sustained here - guess its partly the overland path. I was expecting it to be much windier too, especially after the forecasts of
gusts to 65 mph in exposed areas. But we do have some shelter from the east and north-east here so that has probably helped. Max gust here today was 32 mph earlier this afternoon. A warm day with a max of 18.9°C after an overnight minimum of 9.3°C, and unbroken sunshine so far. This dry air, wind and sunshine has just about taken the last bit of moisture out of the top 15 cm or so of soil. A good dollop of rain wouldn't go amiss. (19:25), 15.7°C, RH 47%, DP 4.5°C, 1018 hPa (F), Wind 12 mph NE. ________________ Nick. Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
