LOL.
I don't see what has changed?

The cold easterly air is now coming in, temperature is still falling up here
and it is now +1.4C at 1035 with falling dewpoints. And that is the key, the
dewpoint charts on GFS, the cold surface air never leaves us, except in far
tip of Cornwall. In these situations 850hPa and 1000-500 thickness are very
misleading, traps for the unwary. This present very large high will indeed
track SE to be replaced by a northern high due to continued warm advection
west of Greenland. That process will veer the surface wind SSE'ly with
fronts brushing the west, by which time the dewpoint over France is well
below freezing and sub -10C in places! Thereafter it is too far away for
detail but it does look the very deep cold air will run down just to our
east but close enough to bring snow to Scotland on the arctic front moving
south.

So all in all the main signal is still for a lot of dry weather and staying
cold, but with the risk of snow coming down from the north longer term.

Have a great Boxing Day!

Will

Quite !!

Might have to do a little study to see how the 5-day forecasts have
verified on a daily basis over the Xmas period to see how they're
handling the myriad subtleties of the block.

Thanks Will - sorry to rattle your cage on Boxing Day, but I was missing
an update from you - now in!

Perfect Winter's day IMHO here on the S Wales coast, visitors enjoying
long walks and then hot chocolates on the sea front overlooking the
channel, with blue skies and clear air.

Cheers

The latest MO 15 day forecast, issued earlier today, seems to be in
broad agreement with that.
