Depends on your budget.
If you've got a £600 budget then look no further than the Davis models.
If however your budget is around the £250 mark then Oregon do some
decent models.

Hi Gareth
Yes I can spend £600 or slightly more if necessary.
Can you advise which Davis I should go for - I can have cables running into
the house if you feel it would be better?
What do you think?
Thanks again
Brian

Your budget was better than mine :-)
I've an Oregon WMR-928 but it's not in the same league as the the Davis
models.
I'm no expert on the Davis models but there are posters here who use
them.

Either wait for those to post their thoughts or maybe take a look at
these websites,

Also John Dann's site at http://www.weatherstations.co.uk/ offers
plenty of good advice as well as good prices. John is a regular on
this site and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be happy to say
his standards of pre-sales and post-sales support are not only based
on real experience, but they are second to none.

Before buying, you may also wish to look at Andy Overton's excellent
guide to setting up an AWS:

Got my Davis WS from John Dann.

Can't fault my Davis WS and can't fault John Dann. Both perfect :-)

Hi, Brian:

Thanks again everyone.

I found the Davis software rather inflexible. There's no way, for
instance, of starting the day at 09:00UTC, or rather only by telling the
software it's in Alaska, ie minus 9hrs!

I find the WeatherDisplay software from:

http://www.tokaanuskihire.co.nz/wdhelp/index.shtml

suited me better. It must be good: it's organised by another Brian!

My software (see below) allows this.

But mine's free. And it doesn't look like... No, I'll stop there.

Mine does have a number of shortcomings, though, I'll admit that.

?Gothic? I agree.

Possibly it only runs on Micro$oft Windoze, like the others. I run Linux
whenever poss. But it looks nice.

I hadn't heard of yours. WDisplay is mentioned, with a URL, on John
Dann's helpful site. Do you think John would also mention yours?

I'm just starting a new weather website. It's not yet complete, but I'm
updating a "Current" page already. Have a look at:

www.evershot-weather.org/wx.html

But please be kind about the incomplete remainder of the site.

Hugh
