Default Putting back the clocks

With the clocks revering back to GMT at 0100hr on Sunday, I have a
question for those of you with AWS recording systems.

What do you do with the extra hour's weather observation?

If a reading is taken at 0100hr BST, is there another reading taken at
0100hrGMT?

If so what happens to the hour in between?

Just wondered

Steve J

Steve ... for those sites with AWSs that I'm responsible for,
I disable the "daylight saving" option so that it records GMT
throughout the year. I also transfer the data to a spreadsheet
so that I can calculate extreme temperatures, rainfall, etc, for
the climatological (09-09) day. I'd certainly advise and
recommend doing the same to anyone else with an AWS.

Steve,

I have a Davis Monitor II and I leave the time unchanged at gmt, I never
get any problems with Weather Underground or the like either. So no
changes required to it Saturday night.

My AWS runs on GMT/UTC all year round, which is standard practice for
observation timing, as far as I know.

My AWS is set to GMT all year. Operational meteorology runs to the GMT
clock, not the BST one in summer.

Steve.
Thanks for asking the question and for all of the replies as well.
I must be dumb, but this had never occurred to me before, so I have amended
the settings accordingly!!!
