Strongest gusts I've seen so far are 84mph at Culdrose & 81mph 1.5
miles ESE of Land's End. I don't know if anyone has any figures for Gwennap Head or The Lizard. Just got back from Sennen, walked to the bottom of Pedn-Men-Du (1 mile from Land's End) and took a few photos - see www.easterling.freeserve.co.uk/Pedn.html. (Apologies to locals for the mis-spelling of Du on the website.) It was still difficult to stand at times, Sevenstones still reporting Severe Gale 9 & 21' swell. No surfers in this morning, a great rarity on a Sunday, it's simply far too dangerous. Plenty of debris on the roads, with an entire tree almost blocking the road at Tregonebris, half way between Penzance & Land's End. This is more what winters used to be like in the '90s.
