Default TV forecaster's explanation of TV co-channel interference.

Just saw this on a non-weather forum (www.digitalspy.co.uk). As I'm at
work I haven't actually seen the broadcast myself:

Copied from a post on the digitalspy forum:

Did anyone catch the BBC's dismal attempt at explaining atmospherics on the One o'clock News (BBC 1)?.

It went along the lines of a temperature inversion (OK so far..) causing a barrier that stops satellite signals coming through the clouds to terrestrial aerials.

Bring back proper meteorologists to the beeb!!

Needless to say I called the duty office to put them right!!

After the non-science "Horizon" the other night and now this, whatever
is happening at the BBC?

Better ask what has happened not what is happening.

Basically the company is reaping the harvest of rearing its presenters
on Blue Peter.

That and the fact the censors on its forae and etc have complete
control over anything and everything you say. They will even go to the
bother of rewriting your posts for you rather than offer them back for
you to change.

In short the bloody cocks can do what they like.

Invariably this does not include what we like. If there is anything
like the blocks between layers in the hierarchy (as can be seen in
politics) the outcome is disaster.

Horizon is a pale imitation of its former self. What is really
frustrating is when I read the 'TV Critics Choice' column in the Radio
Times, when they praise how Horizon is no longer serious and 'dull'. I
think that is a sad reflection on modern society, when people cannot be
fascinated by actual scientic fact, and instead have to be impressed by
the glossy presentation instead.
